Library re-opening – 2nd October 2021

Overview

Even with the wet weather the newly refurbished library had a real buzz about it this morning. Local families and community members enjoyed cakes, refreshments and even the odd ice cream at the grand re-opening of Brockworth Link & Community Library.

Shoo Rayner, local author and illustrator cut the ribbon after touching speeches from Nina, the chair of the Brockworth Link trustees, and Annie the Library Manager.

Children enjoyed a story read, and illustrated live, by Shoo as well as making Lego models and colouring. All those present had positive reflections of the refurbishment and many were blown away by the transformation and what a welcoming space had been created.

Quote from those in attendance:

  • “Impressed at how much is here”
  • “Looks lovely, really spacious and the seating area looks appealing”
  • Bernard O’Connor, Brockworth Albion coach – “It’s a lovely calm space to be in”
  • Louis – picture in attached, “I’m getting a library card because there are lots of star-wars books for me to read”
  • “It’s my first time, I’m really impressed at what is here”
  • “We’re so pleased it’s back open on a Saturday, we come every week in between our dancing lessons”
  • “it’s very inviting, to spend some time enjoying books”
  • “It’s very welcoming, l didn’t realise how many services were provided for the local community”

Nadia, Roberts Limbrick architect:

“It’s been an absolute pleasure to work with the Brockworth Link team and to have the opportunity to help create a fresh, new, inviting place for local community to enjoy.”
